We are very pleased to let you all know that Orleton now has another defibrillator, bringing the total of the life saving machines to three.
The new unit has been kindly donated to the village by Shropshire Homes – the developer of the Captain’s Meadow (Orleton Fields) estate. We would like to cordially (!) thank Shropshire Homes on behalf of Orleton parish and all those who may benefit from it in the future.
The new defibrillator is located at the Boot Inn and has been installed with the kind permission and help of the Boot Landlord – again, our sincere thanks.
This new piece of equipment increases the defibrillator coverage in the village and makes the life saving help more accessible in case of emergency – remember, providing defibrillator support within 4 minutes of a heart arrest increases the chances of survival by 60%.
The other two de-fibs are located, respectively – at the Primary School and by the Doctors Surgery. Codes for access to the defibrillators can be obtained by telephoning 999 or 112 or one of the Parish Councillors and the Clerk.
The Parish Council has adopted the new machine as its asset and has taken the responsibility of any ongoing maintenance going forward.
It may be worth noting that the Councillor appointed to be responsible for the village defibrillators is Cllr Ron Gittings and if you have any queries or need to report a problem please do not hesitate to talk to Ron.
He will be undertaking periodic inspections of the machines in the village and taking care that all ancillary equipment like batteries and pads are up-to-date and available at all times.
The Parish Council has recently purchased two sets of replacement batteries and pads for the two de-fibs at the school and surgery and ensured that all of our machines are registered on the National Circuit.
