Orleton one of the first in the country to pilot new Community Flood Signage scheme

We are very pleased to let you all know that the new Community Flood Signage Scheme announced few months back is now up and running. As you may recall Orleton has been chosen to pilot a new, and unique nationwide, community flood management scheme. This pilot scheme will use local volunteers to deploy road closure barriers and signage on behalf of Herefordshire Council during flooding in Millbrook Way.

The volunteer Flood Wardens have now undergone their training and will be empowered to deploy road closure signs and barriers in the event of flooding.

Our thanks go out to Jenny Allen – Flood Group Liaison Officer at Balfour Beatty and Herefordshire Council for their support in training and equipping the volunteers.
